About this Case Study

E-VR is a new game/app development company that also runs Scotland's first virtual reality (VR) arcade out of Ocean Terminal in Leith. In the time since opening the VR arcade we have seen thousands of customers (of all ages and backgrounds) experience high-end VR games and experiences for the first time, and so we are - essentially - able to write the design bible on the 'VR Design Dos and Don'ts'.

Over the course of the next few months we will be conducting research and development into an application for learning languages, which is being made specifically for virtual reality. We would like to present our case study at UX Scotland 2018 showing everything we learned from conception to execution, focusing specifically on VR and UX design.

The presentation will be given by David Taylor, our resident designer who has been with the company since its inception.

About the Speaker

David Taylor has worked as a designer for all types of digital projects and companies; video games, mobile apps, websites. With a masters in game development and a few years of designing under his belt, he is now working with virtual reality (VR) technology, and over the past year has helped build and grow E-VR; a VR game development incubator and Scotland's first and only virtual reality arcade.

With a background in UX design, he looks to develop VR games and experiences that use the technology in as natural and intuitive a way possible. Now, he and E-VR are working to develop a VR application to help teach new languages.
